Josh Duggar Prison Transfers Called “Punishment” After Contact Cut Off

Josh Duggar’s attorneys are voicing fresh objections to the former reality TV personality’s repeated transfers between prisons, arguing that the moves were carried out in retaliation after he reported alleged problems within the federal prison system.

Attorney Beau Brindley contends that Duggar’s transfers—from FCI Seagoville in Texas to FMC Fort Worth and most recently to FTC Oklahoma City—were not standard administrative decisions but instead served as a punitive measure.

Brindley claims correctional officers at Seagoville improperly opened Duggar’s legal correspondence. He further alleges that after Duggar raised the matter during a court proceeding, prison officials told him he would be transferred.

Brindley also asserts that prison staff removed Duggar’s approved contact list, leaving him unable to communicate with individuals he had previously been authorized to call.

According to Duggar’s legal team, concerns intensified after his transfer to FMC Fort Worth, a facility that primarily houses inmates needing medical or mental health care. Brindley has previously maintained that Duggar was not experiencing any illness and questioned the justification for sending him there.

The former “19 Kids and Counting” star has since been transferred once more, this time to FTC Oklahoma City, a facility commonly used to temporarily hold inmates before they are assigned to a long-term institution.

With multiple transfers now behind him, uncertainty remains over the facility where Duggar will eventually serve the rest of his sentence.

Duggar is serving a 12-year federal prison term following his 2021 conviction for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. He has continued to challenge the case through the courts, including an appeal that a federal judge recently denied because it was not filed within the required deadline.

The Bureau of Prisons has neither publicly explained why Duggar has been transferred multiple times nor addressed the allegations made by his attorney.

This latest development marks another stage in Duggar’s continuing legal fight as he remains behind bars.
